Abstracting and Indexing

Research Collab

Research Collab is committed to improving the discoverability, accessibility, and responsible dissemination of scholarly publications through appropriate digital repositories, metadata services, academic discovery platforms, and indexing resources.

The visibility of each book, edited volume, conference proceeding, or other scholarly publication depends on its publication arrangements, metadata quality, repository eligibility, and the policies of the relevant external platform. Abstracting, indexing, DOI registration, and repository deposit are distinct processes.

1. Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs)

Where applicable, eligible publications or individual chapters may be assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) through the relevant registration arrangements. A DOI provides a persistent identifier that helps readers locate and cite a scholarly work.

The presence of a DOI does not, by itself, establish that a publication has undergone peer review or is indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, or any other selective indexing database.

2. Repository Deposit and Research Discoverability

Subject to the publication agreement and eligibility requirements, selected research outputs may be deposited in appropriate scholarly repositories and made discoverable through relevant academic services. These may include:

  • Zenodo: An open research repository that supports the preservation, sharing, and citation of research outputs. DOI assignment may be available for eligible records. Official documentation
  • OpenAIRE: A research discovery and infrastructure initiative that aggregates metadata and supports the discovery of research outputs and related scholarly resources. Explore OpenAIRE

Repository deposit and metadata aggregation are intended to improve accessibility and discoverability. However, deposit or inclusion in a discovery service should not be interpreted as certification of peer review, academic quality, or inclusion in a selective citation index.

3. Abstracting and Indexing Databases

Research Collab recognises the importance of established abstracting and indexing services in scholarly communication. The indexing status of a publication must be verified directly through the official database or service concerned.

Research Collab does not claim that every publication issued, coordinated, or supported through its activities is indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, or other selective databases. Any claim of indexing will be made only where it can be independently verified for the specific publication, journal, series, or book concerned.

Authors and editors are encouraged to check the relevant database using the publication title, journal or series title, ISSN or ISBN where applicable, DOI, or other official bibliographic information.

4. Publication-Level Verification

Abstracting and indexing coverage may differ between publications, even when they are associated with the same research initiative or publishing network. Authors and readers should verify the status of the particular work rather than assume that the coverage of one title applies to another.

  • ISBN: Identifies a particular book or eligible book edition.
  • DOI: Provides a persistent identifier for a registered digital object.
  • Repository deposit: Makes an eligible research output available through a repository.
  • Abstracting and indexing: Involves inclusion or representation in a specific database or service according to its policies.
  • Peer review: Refers to an assessment process conducted by qualified reviewers. It is not established merely by an ISBN, DOI, repository record, or indexing claim.

5. Transparency and Updates

Research Collab aims to provide accurate information about publication identifiers, repository deposits, and discoverability arrangements. External services independently determine their inclusion, metadata processing, and indexing policies.

Consequently, repository deposit or metadata submission cannot guarantee continued availability, inclusion, ranking, citation counts, or indexing acceptance. Confirmed indexing information should identify the relevant publication and database clearly, with an official verification link where available.
